- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆When I was applying to universities to pursue my undergraduate degree I was accepted into many schools in Texas, including A&M. I made a few trips to College Station to check out the school and the people. I actually liked the campus itself (although not College Station as a whole) and, while A&M may not be the best school academically, it is better than most in Texas. What absolutely ruined the school for me was the people that attend it. I recall attending a football game at Kyle Field, when I was talking to some of the people seated near me about picking out a school when I said "UT" everyone immediately glared at me and angrily said "TU". They then launched into a tirade concerning the superiority of A&M, how it is an older school than UT, etc. This rudeness was pretty much found to be commonplace during my several visits to the campus. It is rather ridiculous that a negative attitude towards another school is so heavily emphasized in the culture of the school (even the school fight song is based around bashing UT). My girlfriend as well as several of my colleagues have a degree from Texas A&M and their only complaints concerning the school are directed at many of the people who attend it. Out of Baylor, Rice, UT, TCU, and Texas State this was the only school I visited that had such a negative feel to it. It came down to Rice and UT and I ended up choosing the University of Texas for financial reasons. I am now deciding on a graduate school and you can be certain that Texas A&M was not even included in my applications.By A Google User, September 06, 2017
